Richard F. Linn, 89, Decatur, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Decatur, son of the late Joseph S. and Mildred Cleo (Roop) Linn.
He married Colleen Miller Aug. 1, 1947.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Decatur Masonic Lodge 571 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, American Legion Post 43, VFW Post 6236, Order of the Purple Heart and a former member of the Decatur Lions Club.
Richard was a Funeral Director and partner from 1962-1987 at Wintergg and Linn Funeral Home, which is currently (now) Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home. He served four terms as the Coroner of Adams County.
He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Richard was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Distinguished Service Cross, two Bronze Stars, the French Croix de Guerre and the French Legion of Valor.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Colleen Linn of Decatur; two daughters, Nancee Linn and Cathee (John) Graves, both of Decatur; two grandchildren, Kimberlee Hurst and Mark (Natasha) Graves; two great-grandchildren Arree and Zoee Hurst, and one to be born, Baby Graves, due in August. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jane Steele.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating.
Burial will take place in Decatur Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard
