Reuben R. Wickey

    Reuben R. Wickey, 78, Monroe, passed away Dec. 31, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born Jan. 29, 1935, in Geneva, the son of the late David D. and Rosa (Schwartz) Wickey. He married Effie May Brandenberger Feb. 20, 1958; she survives.
    He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and was a carpenter and woodworker.
    Reuben is survived by nine sons, Reuben (Frances) Wickey, Elam (Mandy) Wickey, Ernest (Josephine) Wickey and Daniel (Rose Ann) Wickey, all of Monroe, Elmer (Ruby) Wickey of New Haven, David (Lisa) Wickey of Mooreland, Martin (Betty) Wickey of Decatur, Emanuel (Elizabeth) Wickey of Means, Ky. and Paul (Sylvia) Wickey of Berne; four daughters, Frances (Joe) Eicher of Grabill, Elizabeth (Reuben) Graber of Spencerville, Amy (Daniel) Steury of Flemingsburg, Ky. and Margaret (Daniel Jr.) Schwartz of Monroe; 94 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake R. Wickey of Michigan and David R. Wickey of Monroe; and four sisters, Katie R. Schwartz of Pennsylvania and Becky (Dave) Girod, Adel (Enos) Schmidt and Elizabeth (Joe) Schwartz, all of Geneva.
    He was preceded in death by one grandson; one great-grandson; two brothers, Levi R. and Joe R. Wickey; and two sisters, Emma R. Wickey and Maryann R. Schwartz.
    Services are 9 a.m. Saturday at his residence, 4876 E. 100 S., Monroe.
    Burial is in the Salem Cemetery, rural Monroe.
    Visitation is from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, both at the residence with Bishop Victor L. Hilty officiating.
