A reporter’s lonely day

January 24, 2014

    Mostly, I sat.
Recently, the Decatur Daily Democrat initiated a new feature called “Lunch with a Reporter,” wherein a member of the editorial staff plops down at a local restaurant and makes themselves available to the public to share a cup of coffee and accept feedback, story ideas, newsworthy tidbits from residents or simply to exchange pleasantries.
Well, I did manage to exchange pleasantries, but mostly, I just sat.
Thinking my lunch might get cold if I waited to eat until people began to question me, I arrived early at West End Restaurant, which had graciously agreed to allow me to take up table space during the lunch rush.
