Raymond A. Saalfrank

    Raymond A. Saalfrank, 86, Hoagland, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at Lutheran Life Villages at Pine Valley. 
    He was born Thursday, March 22, 1928, in Allen County, son of the late Carl and Carla M. (Judt) Saalfrank.
    He married Marilyn Saalfrank June 29, 1947, in Antioch Lutheran Church; she passed away Sept. 21, 2005. 
    Raymond was a1946 graduate of Hoagland High School and a member of the Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland, where he had served on the church board. He was a member of the Hoagland Area Advancement Association. 
    Raymond retired in 1988 as supervisor from Container Corporation, with 42 years of service. 
    Surviving are a son, Michael (Beverly) Saalfrank of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Sheryl Grabner and Amy (Dave) Chappell, both of Fort Wayne and Cathy (Kyle Gardner) Saalfrank of Milliken, Colo.; two brothers, Richard Saalfrank of Ossian and Robert (Celeste) Saalfrank of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Alberta Whittern of Monroeville and Shirley Clover of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, Meggin (Brad) Gates, Abbie (Jason) Howard, Erin (Joe) Payton, Joshua (Jenifer) Grabner, Caitlyn (Joe Best) Evans, Kyle Evans, Nicole Chappell and Sydney Chappell; and 11 great-grandchildren. 
    Preceding Raymond in death were two brothers, Melvin and George Saalfrank. 
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Antioch Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Taylor officiating.
    Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. 
    Friends will be received from 12-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m., Sunday at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.    â€¨    Preferred memorials are to Antioch Lutheran Church.
