Raymond L. Boggs

    Raymond L. Boggs, 80, of Bryant, Ind., passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at his residence in Bearcreek Township, Jay County.
    He was born on Friday, September 9, 1932, in Harlan, Ind., to the late Henry and Martha (Griffin) Boggs.
    Raymond married Carolyn Shannon on Tuesday, November 4, 1952, in Van Wert, Ohio; she survives.
    He attended Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Operators Union Local 103 for 50 years. Raymond was a member of Bethel Brethren Church of Berne, Tri-State Gas Engine Club, as well as the American Legion Post and Masonic Lodge 87, all of Portland, Ind.
    Among survivors are three sons, Richard (Becky) Boggs of Willshire, Ohio; DeWayne (Casey) Boggs of Portland, Ind.; Patrick (Heather) Ludy, Spencerville, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jessica Stump of Sidney, Ohio; Shelley Turner of Portland; Ian Snyder of Spencerville; Tommy Ludy of Decatur; and Nathan Stump of Sidney.
    Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, February 14.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, also at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Naas will officiate.
    Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Military rights will be conducted by the Portland American Legion Post and the United States Navy.
