Project work continues at strong pace

    Work continues at a steady pace at the site of the now-demolished former street department/city utility building.
    Decatur Street/Sanitation Superintendent Jeremy Gilbert said Friday that the project is some 70 percent complete.
    Concrete currently is being removed by general contractor Denny's Excavating of Plainfield. "I'd say that by the end of next week the majority of the concrete will be out and (the area) will be backfilled," Gilbert said. "And if everything continues to go well, they could be out of there in another two and a half to three weeks."
