Prison term for beating of bartender

    John R. Case, 56, Berne, pleaded guilty this week in Wells Superior Court to one count of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of possession of marijuana, a Class D felony.
    He was arrested in January after beating a bartender at the Moose Lodge and Family Center in the Bluffton -Banner parking lot.
    Case was sentenced to one year in the Wells County Jail for the misdemeanor and three years in prison for the felony, with one year of the latter suspended; time will be served concurrently.
