Prayer Day observance held by local pastors

May 3, 2013

Dozens of Decatur residents devoted the middle of their day to prayer by the Peace Monument on Thursday, in keeping with the National Day of Prayer.
The noontime observance was held by the Decatur Ministerial Association.
Dr. Robert Brink of Decatur Church of God opened the service by explaining the need for prayer in everyone's life.
Rev. Whitney West of First Baptist Church reminded the participants that God forgives sin and he offered a prayer of repentance. Rev. Jay Carter of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren explained that the people we don't always think of first also need prayer, offering a prayer of remembrance for those people.
