The ACAC Girls Tennis Tournament, which was started on Saturday but interrupted because of rain, concluded with the singles placement matches Monday on the Adams Central Courts. Leo's Madison Carroll defeated Bluffton's Kara Fiechter, 6-4, 6-1, for the crown. She advanced to the finals after topping AC's Hali Wendel 7-5, 6-2 and beating Amanda Stone of Bluffton 6-2, 6-2 in the opening round.
Earlier, South Adams claimed the doubles title as Kassy Potts and Lindsey Graber went through the tourney unbeaten.
Also Monday, AC's Jessica Ripley finished in sixth place, earning second team All-ACAC honors, with a 6-4, 7-5 loss to Megan Evans of Bluffton. Ripley had beaten Annyi Mohlman of Leo 7-5, 6-3 in her first match before losing to Fiechter 6-1, 6-1.
The third-place match in singles has not been played yet due to participant illness but will assuredly go to an Adams Central player since Alisen Barger and Wendel are slated to play this week. The winner of that match will be a first team selection on the All-ACAC tennis squad.
In doubles play, Potts and Graber (15-2) continued their strong season with a 6-2, 6-1 match over Gilliam and Eisenhut of Bluffton. In the opening round of doubles play, the SA duo knocked off Seibel and Aker of Leo by a 6-1, 6-2 decision and then downed Reiff and Williams of Bluffton, 6-3, 6-2.
Third place in the ACAC doubles competition went to Hannah Harvey and Breann Stucky, giving them second team All-ACAC honors. They earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Reiff and Williams of Bluffton after beating Abbie Campbell and Holly Taylor of South Adams, 6-0, 6-4. Harvey and Stucky fell to Gilliam and Eisenhut 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-final round to move to the consolation match.
Barger opened with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Aine O'Donnell of South Adams and lost 6-4, 6-3 to Fiechter of Bluffton. Wendel shut down Megan Evans of Bluffton 6-0, 6-0 in her first match before losing to Carroll in the semis.
