Mercer County, Ohio, Sheriff Jeff Grey scheduled a news conference this morning in Celina to update information on a homicide in Rockford, Ohio, some 25 miles southeast of Decatur.
Just before 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rockford Police Department was called to a home at 509 W. North St. in Rockford. Police Chief Paul May found the body of Melinda Shinn, 26.
It was apparent that the woman had been shot, reports said. Her son, 9, reportedly called police.
May contacted the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and requested that county detectives handle the investigation, with Rockford officers assisting.
A warrant for murder was later obtained for Daniel C. Martin, 40, Shinn’s boyfriend. Grey said Martin may be driving a red 1998 Ford Explorer with Ohio license plate EHU 5541.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Mercer County Sheriff’s office: (419) 586-7724 or a local law-enforcement agency.
