A truck apparently turning into Industrial Park 1 from E. Monroe St. late Wednesday morning knocked down an Indiana & Michigan (or American Electric Power) pole, causing a major power outage on Decatur's west side.
Traffic lights at several intersections on 13th St. were rendered unworkable, bringing out city police to direct traffic. The city street department rushed stop signs to the major highway.
A number of businesses, including eating places, lost power on 13th St. That brought a hugh rush of business to Richards Restaurant on the south end of the street as its power was not lost.
