Pickup finally rescued

   Once the rising waters after last week's flooding finally began to recede, workers on Tuesday — the coldest day of the season — began the daunting task of removing a wayward vehicle that somehow found its way into the St. Mary's River.
    An unnamed source stated that on Sunday, January 13, the unidentified driver drove the pickup truck off the western bank of the St. Mary's River in Pleasant Mills, near US 101.
    The driver was able to escape the vehicle and swim to safety, reaching his residence for help. The driver was taken to Adams Memorial Hospital for observation, but sustained no serious injuries from the accident, according to a report.
    The vehicle remained in the water until Tuesday when Piqua Wrecker Service was finally able to reach the vehicle on the bank across from which it had been driven into the water.
