Pearl Whetstone

    Pearl Whetstone, 93, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    She was born on January 27, 1920, in Wells County, to the late Orlando O. and Margaret E. (Lamberi) Kizer.
    Pearl married Dale Whetstone on April 8, 1939; he died on May 24, 1996.
    She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she was in the Shalom Circle. She was a member of professional secretaries and was in the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She also served as Welcome Wagon hostess and was active in the United Way. Pearl was an executive secretary for Central Soya for 32 years; she also was a homemaker.
    Among survivors are her son, Rusty (Lynn) Whetstone of LeHeigh Acres, Fla.; daughter, Marceda L. Lybarger of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Jai (Robin) Whetstone, Philip (Lorraine) Whetstone, Anthony Whetstone, Stacia Lybarger and Marcus (Daila) Lybarger; three stepgrandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
    Pearl was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
    Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 8, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
    Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, also at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Heinbaugh will officiate.
    Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bryant, Ind.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Mark’s UMC and Adams County Heart Club.
