The Berne Community Development Corporation has announced plans to construct a pavilion on the Muensterberg Plaza.
According to David Baumgartner, president of Berne CDC, “The pavilion will be located at the northeast corner of the plaza and will have much needed restroom facilities and will also serve as a wonderful picnic area. This will be the final improvement needed for the plaza to complete our eight pillar campaign.”
Plans are to begin construction in the spring and have the pavilion ready for the summer event season. The pavilion will also house the splash pad computers as well as provide needed storage areas.
The campaign budget for the pavilion improvements, including picnic tables, additional benches, a new concrete wall at the northeast corner of the plaza and new sidewalks on Water and Harrison Streets, was recently set at $400,000 by the Berne CDC board of directors.
