Paul D. Switzer

    Paul D. Switzer, 87, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Hearth & Home Assisted Living, in Van Wert.
    He was born in Ohio City, Ohio, on Thursday, May 28, 1925, to the late Dean and Esther (Putman) Switzer.
    On July 31, 1953, he married Ella Franz in St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling, rural Decatur; she survives in VanWert.
    Paul was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling, and a member of the AMVETS and the Southwest Conservation Club, both in Fort Wayne. Paul served his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1949.
    He was a plumbing purchasing agent for Central Supply in Fort Wayne for 25 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to working at Central Supply, he ran a fuel route in Van Wert County for Farm Bureau.
    Among survivors are his nephew, Ron (Carla) Young of Van Wert; niece, Susan (John) Gnagy of North Manchester, Ind.; and nephew, Kenneth (Marie) Haines of Dallas, Texas.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Ann Young and Marilyn Maxine Haines.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 23, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling, with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating.
    Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling.
