Roadwork on US 27 north of Decatur. (Eric Mann photo)

A crew of men from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) was at work on Monday along US 27 north of Decatur cleaning debris from roadside cracks with a high-pressure blower, then filling the cracks with a black tar-like substance. The busy highway's northbound side was down to just one lane where the work was under way. INDOT officials said traffic will be restricted through mid-August for concrete patching. Motorists are urged to slow down and stay alert for traffic changes in the area. Officials said no detours are anticipated.
