Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades celebrated a Holy Mass, then led a large throng of parishioners to the adjoining St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church's parish hall for the blessing and dedication of the new building on Sunday.
The hall is the culmination of the St. Mary's Building On Our Heritage capital campaign that began in 2004.
That campaign included a new gymnasium.
The new parish hall features a large gathering space, meeting area, kitchen, bookstore, scrip office, small meditation/meeting room, and handicap accessible restrooms.
Darling Construction, owned by parishioners Tom and Ron Darling, constructed the new building. The architect wass Moake Park Group of Fort Wayne.
It is available to both parishioners and non-parishioners. Anyone interested in using the hall should contact Suzan Downing at the St. Mary's rectory office for details.
