Owner gets 90 days to raze home

July 24, 2013

City officials have given the owner of a burned-out residence in Berne 90 days to demolish the structure that has long been considered by neighbors to be an eyesore and a public health hazard,
During a public hearing held during a recent meeting of the Berne Board of Public Works and Safety it was determined that the structure, owned by Tammi Frisendorf and located at the intersection of Brown and East Van Buren streets, must be razed within 90 days.
According to Mayor Bill McKean, Frisendorf did not attend the hearing but did send a letter to the city requesting that the demolition order be postponed until next spring. The Board of Public Works rejected that request. The property reportedly has been neglected ever since a fire some five years ago.
