Ohio landmark will soon be reduced to memories
A local landmark will shutter its doors come late December.
The J & J Butler General Store, located just across the state line in Willshire, Ohio, is officially going out of business after 28 years of dedicated small-town service.
The corner store, located at the town’s only traffic signal just off U.S. 33, was started by Joe Butler in 1985.
“I was out of a job then, and I had the chance to get the land really cheap,” Butler said recently. “So I bought it and built the store.”
Joe and his wife Judy (thus the J & J) ran the store together for 18 years. Judy ran the cash register while her husband handled finances and managed the business.
