North Adams, teachers agree to pact

August 20, 2014

A one-year contract between North Adams Community Schools and the district’s teachers association was ratified by school board members Tuesday evening during a special board meeting. The collective bargaining agreement was approved last week by the North Adams Teachers Association members.
Superintendent Brent Lehman termed the pact “pretty much the same contract” as was executed last year with the district’s teachers.
With state-mandated incentive and evaluation guidelines now in place to determine the precise salaries of teachers, the superintendent said a “bucket of money” in the amount of $74,000 has been set aside for teacher salary hikes.
