North Adams board recognizes award-winning teacher

    The North Adams Community Schools’ board of education recognized the accomplishments of middle school art teacher Scott Cummings at Tuesday night’s monthly meeting.
    Cummings recently was awarded the National Wild Turkey Federation 2013 Conservation Educator of the Year award in Nashville, Tenn., for his unique approach to educating the youth about wildlife and conservation through art.
    The visual arts teacher at Bellmont Middle School reaches 600 fifth- through eighth-grade students. He uses the opportunity to educate students about hunting, fishing and outdoor skills through art.
