Norbert P. Selking

    Norbert P. Selking, 77, of McHenry, Ill. formerly Hebron, Ill., passed away friday, August 16, 2013, at Heritage Woods in McHenry.
    Norbert was born in Decatur on November 15, 1935, a son of the late August and Frieda (Gallmeyer) Selking.
    He was a graduate of Monmouth High School and attended Valparaiso University. He received the Jaycee Distinguished Service Award in Decatur.
    Norbert is survived by two daughters, Rachel (Mary Noonan) Selking of Lake Geneva, Wisc., and Hannah Itzin of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, Andrew (Paige) Selking of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; John (Yen) Selking of Roundhock, Texas; and Joel (Karen) Selking of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Ann Schimmel of Fort Wayne and Janeen (Willard) Merkle of Van Wert, Ohio.
    Norbert was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Selking; sister, Margaret Freudenburg, and brother, Richard Selking.
    Visitation is from noon-3 p.m. today at Fox Lake Community Church, 25 W. Big Hollow Road, Fox Lake, with funeral services at 3 p.m. and Pastor Wayne Christiansen officiating.
    Burial will be in Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron with military honors.
