Nope, our 65 high was not a record

December 4, 2012

As unseasonably warm as the weather has been recently, we haven't quite broken the record . . . at least not yet.
According to a spokesperson at the Decatur Weather Station, Monday's high of 65 came close to the 1998 record of 68 degrees, but fell short of setting a new mark.
In 1998, Decatur saw a high of 65 degrees four times in the first week of December, then climbed to 67 degrees on Dec. 6, and reached 72 degrees on Dec. 7, according to the spokesperson.
While Decatur may not have toppled any records yet this month, area residents don't seem to mind too much.
A change is coming upon us, however. The National Weather Service says the Decatur area will see a high Wednesday of only 38 degrees.
The normal high for this area in early December is 41.
Meanwhile, showers are expected to end late this afternoon and some dry days are likely ahead, forecasters said.
