Adams County Republican Party Chairman Rob Noetzel of Decatur has announced he will seek the Republican nomination for one of three at-large seats on the Adams County Council. He will be a candidate in this year's May 8 primary election.
"The need for local governments to operate in a learner and more efficient manner is increasing with each passing year," Noetzel said in his campaign announcement. "At the same time that resources are diminishing, the list of items needed to serve the residents of Adams County and provide them with the basic essential services expected of county government continues to grow. This situation calls for strong and decisive leadership, and our community can no longer stand by and wait for others to come up with the creative solutions we need to solve the problems at hand."
Noetzel is employed as a computer professional for Parkview Health in Fort Wayne. As the chairman of the Adams County Republican Party since March of 2007, his leadership was recognized at the state level and in March 2009 he was recruited to serve as the treasurer of the 6th District Republican Central Committee, where he served until June 2011 when congressional redistricting moved Adams County into the 3rd Congressional District.
From 2005 – 2007 Noetzel served as secretary of the Adams County Republican Party. In 2008 and 2010, he was selected as a delegate to the State Convention of the Indiana Republican Party, and has for many years served as both a precinct committeeman and vice committeeman.
He currently serves as den leader for Cub Scout Pack 3070 and has served as a coach for many soccer, basketball, and baseball teams. He currently is treasurer for the Decatur Thunderbirds travel baseball team.
Noetzel has been married to his wife Tracy for 16 years, and together they have one son. Noetzel and his family are active members of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, where he serves as a Proclaimer of the Word. He is also a member of Council 864 of the Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge 993.
“During the 2011 municipal elections, a good friend of mine stated that ‘it is time that my generation steps up to the plate and takes on the responsibilities of helping lead this community’. I could not agree more," Noetzel said. "In moving to Adams County nearly a decade ago, my wife and I chose to invest in Adams County the most valuable thing we have in our lives, the future of our young family. Making that investment has proven to be one of the best decisions of our lives. So with that in mind, I am humbly stepping forward in order to serve my local community. I am ready and willing to give back and serve the community that has given so much to us. With many years of both professional and personal leadership experience, I have the skills required to be a true servant leader, experience and skills that I wish to put to use for the benefit of my fellow citizens here in Adams County."
Noetzel said many issues confront local elected officials, including the potential impact that the continuing decline of tax revenues will have on employee staffing levels and benefits. Other key issues, he said, include how to properly maintain and improve the condition of county owned buildings and resources, and developing and executing a plan to replace the deteriorating Superior Court building.
"These issues call for strong and decisive leadership, the ability to make tough decisions, and to stand by them," said Noetzel. "In both my professional life and as the current chairman of the Adams County Republican Party, I have a proven track record of providing that type of leadership and the ability to make those decisions. It would be an honor for me to do the same serving the County as your newest member of the Adams County Council."
