An attempt to obtain condition reports on the two people taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne after being injured in Tuesday morning's buggy-van mishap revealed the hospital has no record of them in their facility directory.
Citing privacy issues this morning, Parkview officials said they did not have any records on them available for publication. Under federal laws, patients may "opt out," meaning no information on them may be provided..
The accident on S.R. 124 near C.R. 400W resulted in two children, Enos M. Schwartz, 3, rural Decatur, and Barbara M. Schwartz, 5, rural Decatur, being fatally injured. Their bodies have been taken to Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur, where arrangements are pending.
One teenager, Michael M. Schwartz, 16, and a four-month old child, Susan M. Schwartz, both of rural Decatur, were treated at Parkview and later released.
Mary M. Schwartz, 44, rural Decatur, had been listed in critical but stable condition Wednesday morning while Jerry M. Schwartz, 17, rural Decatur, was said to be in critical condition.
