No charges brought in 2012 buggy triple fatal

April 9, 2013

Adams County Prosecutor Chris Harvey announced Tuesday that no charges will be filed in the April 17, 2012 accident that killed Jerry (17), Barbara (5) and Enos (3) Schwartz when a van, driven by Chandler T. Gerber, 21, of Bluffton, struck the rear of the buggy they were riding in. The children's mother, Mary, also suffered serious injuries in the accident.
Harvey said in a news release that after hearing three days of testimony eyewitnesses, first responders and investigators and reviewing Indiana’s legal history of fatal traffic collisions, a grand jury deliberated several hours on Friday before determining no criminal charges would be filed against Gerber.
