Nicholas Liechty, 32, of Aurora, Colo., passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Monday, February 16, 1981, in Augusta, Ga., to Thomas Liechty and Beth (Wolfe) Rettig.
Nicholas was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, and was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Berne. He graduated from South Adams High School in 1999 and from Anderson University in 2003. He was employed with Continental Airlines for the past 10 years and was working on getting his pilot's license.
Among survivors are his mother, Beth Rettig, and her companion, Ned Myers of Decatur; father, Thomas Liechty of Decatur; sister, Kacey (Jon) Burden of Fort Wayne; grandmother, Donna Johnson of Decatur; grandparents, Byron and Ruth Mary Liechty of Berne; grandmother, Glendolyn Rhymer of Decatur; and nephews, Parker, Liam, and Miles Burden of Fort Wayne.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandfathers.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, also at the funeral home with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating.
Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
