NHC announces softball first-teams

    The NHC has released its all-conference softball teams for the 2012 campaign but only one member of Bellmont's squad will be represented on the team.
    Senior Brieann Burkhalter, daughter of the Squaws' head coach Rick Burkhalter, was named to the first team at the corner infielder position along with Hannah Schnorr of Columbia City.
    Overall, between the first and second team with honorable mentions included, Norwell and DeKalb led the conference with seven selections apiece. Columbia City was honored with six members of their squad, East Noble with five, Homestead with three, Carroll with two, and New Haven was the other school besides Bellmont to name only one member to the rosters.
    On the first team is Burkhalter, Columbia City's pitcher Cassie Vodde, Megan Griffin (catcher), Schnorr, and Kaylee Parks (outfield); Homestead's Tori Strelec (pitcher) and Hillary Kartman (middle infield); Carroll's Dani Sneiderwine (catcher) and Emily Catanzarite (middle infield); Norwell's Kendall Beckstein (outfield); DeKalb's Taylor Grayless (outfield);  and East Noble's Mackenzie Williams (designated player).
