New truck hoists OK’d by county

November 5, 2013

CLOSED — County Road 800N, between Piqua Road and C.R. 100E, has been posted and is now closed to traffic. Those caught attempting to use the dirt road may now be cited by the Adams County sheriff’s department, County Highway Superintendent Mark Mitchel told the county commissioners on Monday.     The Adams County Commissioners at Monday’s regularly scheduled weekly meeting approved a request from Highway Department Superintendent Mark Mitchel to look at the possibility of purchasing new hoists and beds for two Volvo trucks which are deteriorating due to age and rust.
Mitchel reported he has preliminarily priced the hoists and beds for each of two 20-foot long, single-axle trucks at $8,931 each from Hoosier Trailer and Truck Equipment, Fort Wayne. He pointed out the replacement parts will allow the county to utilize its existing trucks for an additional seven or eight years, a much cheaper proposition than replacing them completely with new vehicles.
