New jail cost expected to top $10 mil

December 11, 2013

The costs involved in building a new jail, superior court and probation facilities was the primary focus of county officials in an early morning meeting of the Adams County Court Project Committee.
Jack Krouse, president of Construction Control, Inc., Fort Wayne, a firm specializing in jail construction, addressed members of the Adams County Council and the newly-formed Judicial Needs CommitteeTuesday morning prior to the regular monthly council meeting.
Krouse told the group to expect to pay approximately $65,000 per bed in construction fees, setting those costs at an estimated $9.75 million for a 150-bed facility.
