Near-drowning has happy ending for family with Decatur ties

April 22, 2014

An Easter weekend family vacation to Spring Mill State Park, in Mitchell, nearly turned to tragedy for a Wren, Ohio, family after a young boy nearly drowned in the swimming pool at Spring Hill Inn Saturday.
Riley Saylor, 13, was swimming in the inn’s pool with his family when he was discovered at the bottom of the pool by his cousin, Sarah Rumschlag, 30, Decatur, who reacted quickly, diving in and bringing the lifeless boy to the surface. Ann Lott, of Madison, Ala., saw Rumschlag struggling and quickly came to the young woman’s aid to bring Riley to the side of the pool.
