Nancy L. Scherry

    Nancy L. Scherry, 82, of rural Decatur, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born on July 11, 1929, in Culver, Indiana, to Rev. F.I. and Laura F. Braunschweiger Willmert.
    She married Rolland F. Scherry on September 26, 1953, in Faith United Methodist Church at Fort Wayne; he survives. Nancy and Rolland were married by her father and brother.
    Nancy retired in 1994 as a registered nurse after 44 years of service, including 20 years at Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne.
    Nancy was a member of Salem United Church of Christ at Magley and its Women's Guild and was also a Sunday School teacher, the church organist, and the handbell director for the church.
    Other survivors are two sons, Mark F. Scherry and James A. Scherry of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. N.R. (Carol) Munk of Fort Wayne; and one brother, John Allen Willmert of North Manchester.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Reta Ann Willmert.
    Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Salem United Church of Christ at Magley, with Rev. David G. Butz officiating.
    Burial will be in the cemetery at Salem United Church of Christ.
    Visiting hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and 2-3 p.m. Friday in the church.
    Preferred memorials are to the building fund at Salem United Church of Christ.
