NA officer renewed by council

Kriss Affolder

    North Adams Schools will continue to have its resource officer, Kriss Affolder, for another year, according to approval given by Decatur City Council at its meeting last week.
    Actually, the city merely renewed its agreement with North Adams, insuring that the officer will continue to work within the school system until next June 30.
    City Police Chief Ken Ketzler said the agreement has been in effect for three years and that $37,000 of the officer's salary is paid through a federal grant. Affolder is still a member of the Decatur Police Department.
    One of the five city council members, Charlie Cook, is a member of the Adams County Sheriff's Department and serves as resource officer for Adams Central Schools after previously working with the North Adams system.
