NA board accepts INDOT offer

November 15, 2013

The North Adams Community School board on Tuesday discussed at length a right-of-way proposal from the Indiana Department of Transportation as part of the state’s plan to elevate U.S. 224 in the area near Bellmont High School.
The long-discussed highway reconstruction project would elevate a half-mile stretch of U.S. 224 west of Jackson Street.
While at one time INDOT officials had suggested construction could start as soon as 2015, a spokeswoman from the agency’s Fort Wayne office said Thursday that the project is currently set for construction in 2017.
