Moving into the 21st Century

May 13, 2013

The Decatur Police Department, Chief Ken Ketzler says, is “moving into the 21st Century.”
Within in the next few weeks, the department’s six marked squad cars will be outfitted with computers. And the patrol officers and sergeants using those vehicles will have their own personal computers which will be attached to the in-car computers.
Ketzler told city council at its latest meeting that the process is likely to be done with a month, at a total cost of approximately $40,000. Contributions from several sources — such as the city street department and the Adams County prosecutor — will cover most of the cost so the police department won’t have to break its budget.
