Motor Sports Festival slated June 15

    The 12th annual Motor Sports Festival will be presented in downtown Decatur on Friday June 15, it has been announced by the sponsoring Chamber of Comerce.
      Registration will begin at 4 p.m. and the show will continue until 9p.m.
    Several food vendors will have food available for sale. MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will be returning with their popular spiral fries and Common Ground Church will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs and sloppy Joes, the announcement said.
    Fifties music and entertainment will be provided by MillerTyme DJ service.
    The Razz-M-Jazz Dance Studio will perform at the intersection of Second and Madison streets at 6 p.m. 
    Awards will be presented in front of the courthouse at 8:30 p.m. In addition to the top 40 entries, a vehicle will be selected as the mayor’s choice and there will be awards for best interior, best paint, and best engine, as well as club participation and committee’s choice awards.
    Motorcycles and tractors are also invited to participate, with special judging and awards slated.
    A plaque will be presented for the best tractor   Motorcycle awards will include best bike, best dressed and oldest bike.
    Pre-registration is $10 (prior to June 1) and $12 day of the show.  Display vehicles should enter at Second and Jefferson streets, by the Old 27 Ice Cream Shop, the announcement said.
    For safety reasons no dogs or bicycles will be allowed in the show area.
