Morris S. 'Rosey' Krueckeberg

    Morris S. "Rosey" Krueckeberg, 86, Decatur, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Monday, December 26, 2011, at Woodcrest Retirement Community, Decatur.
    He was born on December 20, 1925, in Adams County, to the late Gustav and Selma Krueckeberg.
    He married Naomi Harvey on September 25, 1949. She survives.
    He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur; the American Legion Post 43; and the Decatur Elks Lodge.
    He retired from International Harvest after 39 years of service. He served as the editor of the USS Manilla Bay Bayonet.
    He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Manilla Bay as a radar operator.
    Among survivors are one son, Kim (Sheryl) Krueckeberg, Fort Wayne; four daughters, Kay (Jim) Strasburg, Decatur; Kelli (Mike) Jennings, Decatur; Kendel (Brad) Krehl; Martinsburg, PA.; and Karla (Jeff) Frownfelter, Ellettsville; two sisters, Norma (Ben) Miller, Decatur and Irene (Gene) Kiess, Decatur; and one brother, Melvin (Arlene) Krueckeberg, New Haven; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Krueckeberg; a brother, Truman Krueckeberg and three sisters, Esther Krueckeberg; Amanda Dressler; and Gertrude Heine.
    Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
    A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Phil Phifer will be officiating.
    Burial will be at Decatur Cemetary.
    Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur.
