MOPS parks project gets major boost

October 22, 2010

Leaders of the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) have announced that a company is supporting the project with a donation which will match funds raised by the local group.
"Game Time/Sinclair Recreation has agreed to match all donations raised by November 5 up to $35,000," MOPS said in a news release. "This means that all contributions will be doubled!"
Time, however, becomes a key factor as only funds raised by November 5 will be matched. Later donations will not be included in the match.
MOPS is seeking to raise approximately $52,000 to $60,000 to provide new playground equipment for Legion Park. Its drive will continue until August 1 of next year. Some $21,000 had already been raised by this week.
"In order to maximize this great opportunity, we are looking to raise an additional $14,000 by November 5," the MOPS statement said. "No donations are too small."
MOPS will be on Madison Street next Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. celebrating the Callithumpian Festival and selling curly potatoes and drinks, the group said. Donations will be accepted that night as well.
People may also send tax deductible donations to 502 W. Monroe St., Decatur, IN 46733 (Attn.: MOPS).
