Mind’s Eye takes out Geimer for Senior title

    The Mind's Eye Graphics girls softball team claimed the championship of the Decatur Girls Senior League tournament Thursday night after knocking off Geimer Construction for the second time this week by a score of 16-8.
    The Graphics beat Geimer's 6-4 on Tuesday night forcing the Builders to come back with a 16-10 triumph over Barker and Sons Wrecker Service on Wednesday to earn a berth in the final game.
    Thursday night's win saw Mind's Eye bang out 16 hits with Jessica Walther being the star on offense with a triple and double in a three-hit affair. Allie Feasel, Brittany Cochran, McKenzie Tracey, Beka Wilder, and Janaya Wilder all contributed two hits to the Mind's Eye cause.
    Hit statistics for Geimer Construction were not available.
    Mind's Eye opened with three runs in the top of the first. They scored in every at bat getting one in the second and third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and finished with six in the sixth frame. Geimer Construction crossed home plate twice in the first and once in the second before finally getting five in the sixth.
    Nicole Schevenius and Janaya Wilder both pitched with Schevenius getting the win with five innings of work and five strikeouts.  Sadie Alberson threw for Geimer Construction and struck out four.
    Mind's Eye Graphics was also the regular season champion of the Decatur Girls Senior League.
