Mildred E. Bird

    Mildred E. Bird, 87, Decatur, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at her residence. 
    
    She was born Sunday, Oct. 17, 1926, in South Norwalk, Conn. the daughter of the late Henry J. and Hazel M. (Arnold) Deysenroth.
    She married John W. “Bill” Bird Sr. Dec. 15, 1945; he passed away Jan. 21, 1993. 
    
   Mildred was a member of the Decatur Church of God and the American Legion Post 43 Auxiliary. She was a daughter, wife and mother. 
       
  Surviving are three sons, Steven P. Bird of Decatur, John W. (Donna) Bird Jr. of Highland Beach, Fla., and Stewart A. (Jo Ann) Bird of Columbia City; four daughters, Patricia A. Clem, Carol J. (Curtis) Phillips and Lori M. Bird, all of Decatur, and Penny Jo Bird of Fort Wayne; a brother, Henry J. (Barbara) Deysenroth of Redding, Conn.; a sister, Judith C. Hammond of South Norwalk; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 
    
    Preceding Mildred in death were a sister, Charlotte L. Cusack; and a brother, Richard Paul Deysenroth.
 â€¨    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Decatur Church of God, with Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Internment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio. 
    
    Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church Sunday.
    Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare or Adams County Community Foundation-Bird and Walther Scholarship Fund.
