Mid-States Tool gets praise, abatement from Decatur counci

December 4, 2013

“Thank you for having confidence in our community,” Decatur Mayor John Schultz told Mid-States Tool & Machine Inc. owner Jason Scheumann after city council on Tuesday night unanimously finalized a five-year tax abatement for the company located in the city’s original Industrial Park.
The abatement covers the purchase of three new pieces of equipment at a cost of $367,000.
The company has 22 employees and the new equipment will help the firm retain those 22 and add another employee in the future, Scheumann said at a previous meeting. Attorney Jeremy Brown, representing Mid-States, said at that meeting, “These are 22 well-paying jobs.”
