Sweeping changes affecting Medicaid eligibility requirements for Indiana residents will take affect June 1, it was learned Wednesday night at the monthly meeting of the Adams Health Network’s board of trustees.
And there is an even more pressing deadline looming. For some individuals to remain on the Medicaid state roster, paperwork will need to be filed with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration in Indianapolis by May 1.
AHN Chief Financial Officer Dane Wheeler told trustees the state has changed the eligibility for persons to be on Medicaid and the new rule could conceivably have a huge impact on nursing home residents, many of whom are Medicaid recipients.
Wheeler said when the rule is enacted, any patient who earns more than $2,163 per month in income will not qualify for Medicaid assistance unless necessary paperwork with the FSSA is in place.
