A total of 100 career wins and, more importantly, a 39-34 victory over Churubusco has Adams Central Coach Aaron McClure smiling after opening-night Sectional play at South Adams on Tuesday.
The victory, the 100th of McClure's coaching career, sends the Jets into a Friday night contest against the host Starfires.
About the 100th win, McClure, who is the middle school principal and a former science teacher, said he's enjoyed all 11 seasons and has had "a lot of fun."
He lauded longtime assistant Mike Cooper, another former AC player, for all he has contributed to the program for a long time, plus other coaches (three current ones also being former Jets) and too many players to count over the years.
AC is 17-3 and Churubusco wrapped up at 14-7.
