Mayor proclaims Drug Facts Week

January 24, 2014

Decatur Mayor John Schultz has signed a proclamation officially declaring Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 as National Drug Facts Week, a time for youth to learn what science teaches about drug abuse and addiction, and how drugs affect the brain, body and behavior.
The Adams County Substance Abuse Awareness Council is sponsoring two contests during this time. For fourth-graders there is a poster contest, entitled “Better Things To Do Than Drugs,” whereby the students draw what they do to keep their mind and body healthy.  The three public schools will distribute those posters to their students.
Any other schools or home-schooled students are invited to participate as well.
