Maxine J. Hakes

    Maxine J. Hakes, 80, of Decatur, died on January 4, 2011 at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born in Adams County on March 15, 1930 to Bernard and Frieda (Black) Keller.
    On May 20, 1950, she married Paris Hakes. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2000.
    Maxine attended Decatur Church of God and was a homemaker.
    She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Neil (Karen M.) Gerber of Bluffton; Mrs. Robert (Karol M.) Rich of New Castle, Indiana; and Mrs. Michael (Kristine M.) Geels of Monroe; one sister, Norma Elzey of Decatur; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be on Friday, January 7, from 1-7 p.m. at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011, in Decatur Church of God at 1 p.m., with Dr. Robert Brink officiating.  Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    Memorials are to Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana or for paralyzed veterans.
