Maurice J. Goebel, 88, of Decatur, died on February 7, 2011, at Woodcrest Retirement Community's Nursing Center.
He was born on October 25, 1921, to Norbert and Victoria (Stark) Goebel in Edgerton, Ohio.
He married Cecilia E. Noonan on November 26, 1949. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2008.
Maurice was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur.
He was a crew leader at Central Soya in Decatur for 33 years and retired in 1984.
He was a member of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur and served his country in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include a son, Joseph M. Goebel of Decatur; two granddaughters; two brothers, Clair Goebel of Edgerton, Ohio, and Edward Goebel of Montpelier, Ohio; and five sisters, Alice Denny, Rita Jackson, and Laura Kline, all of Fort Wayne; Hilda Green of Glendale, Arizona; and Millie Snider of Columbia City.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy E. Goebel, in infancy, and by a sister and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with calling one hour prior. Father David Voors will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur.
