Mary Jeanette Speece

    Mary Jeanette Speece, 88, of  Poneto, passed away at 10:24 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012, at her residence.
    She was born in Wells County on March 11, 1924, to the late Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Veda G. (Masterson) Conner.  
    On November 21, 1962, she married Kenneth G. Speece in Bluffton; he preceded her in death on November 29, 1973. 
    Mary graduated from Bluffton High School in 1941. She was employed as a bookkeeper for 37 years at Wells Community Hospital, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Poneto United Methodist Church, Poneto Women in Missions, the Busy Bee Home Economics Club and she enjoyed traveling.
    Mary is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Jessie) Osborn of Poneto; one son, Robert K. (Marty) Speece Davis of Wauseon, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kathy Osborn of Bluffton, Kelli (Steven) Rush of Poneto, Kimberly (Darrel) Ehlerding of Decatur, Nick (Trish) Trimble of Chester, Conn., Kathi (Johnny) Flores of Millersville, Md., Kris Szczecinski of Maumee, Ohio, and Bobbi (Larry) Compton of Swanton, Ohio; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Patricia Conner of Bluffton; one brother-in-law, Robert Klefeker of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 
    She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Antoinette Trimble Schull; one great-granddaughter, Jana Marie Ehlerding; three brothers, Dr. William F. Conner, Lawrence J. Conner, and Kenneth Conner; and one sister, Betty J. Klefeker.
    Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, Bluffton.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Roy Nevil officiating.
    Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Montpelier.
