Mary I. Jessup

    Mary I. Jessup, 97, formerly a lifelong resident of Decatur, died at 8:28 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at The Village of Heritage in Monroeville, where she had been living for the past two and a half years.
    Mary was born September 29, 1915, in Fort Wayne to the late William F. and Florence (Stump) Kohls.
    She married Charles E. Jessup on July 1, 1951, in Decatur; he passed away January 20, 1996.
    Mary was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur, where she was also a member of the Friendship Circle. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. Mary had been employed by Niblick's in Decatur.
    Among survivors are her son, Neil (Susan) Keller of Decatur; daughter, Marcia A. Kohler of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
    Mary was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Souder; daughter, Judy K. Williamson; and five sisters, Evelyn Strickler, Kathryn Heller, Flora Belle Faulkner, Helen J. Grahm and Barbara Newton.
    Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, August 22, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Jim Compton officiating.
    Preferred memorials are to Zion United Church of Christ or LifeCare Hospice in Berne.
