Mary E. Smeltzer-Shaw

    Mary E. Smeltzer-Shaw, 66, of Decatur, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
    She was born in Wells County on December 4, 1945, to the late Edwin R. and Isabelle M. (Franklin) Smeltzer, Jr.
    A 1964 graduate of Lancaster Central High School, Mary was a resident of Adams County for over 40 years. She was a homemaker and attended the Bible Missionary Church, in Decatur. She enjoyed fishing, loved to play cards, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Angel.
    Among survivors are her children, Connie J. Shaw and Bonnie J. Shaw, both of Decatur; sister, Judy M. Kendrick of Geneva; brothers, John H. Smeltzer of Bluffton; James Richard Smeltzer of Newport News, Va.; and Jeffrey Smeltzer of Bluffton; and four grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Edward Shaw; a sister, Gloria Ann Smeltzer; a granddaughter, Tiffany Nichole Spillers-Shaw; brother, Edwin R. Smeltzer; and a half-brother, Steve Franklin.
    Visitation will be held from 5 -7 p.m. Thursday, May 24,  at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
    Funeral services will take place at 7 p.m. following calling on Thursday in the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Jeff Lemler officiating.
    A private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton.
    Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.
