Mary Alice Kitson

    Mary Alice Kitson, 75, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
    She was born on November 6, 1936, in Jay County, to the late Ben D. and Helen I. (Wilhelm) Stratton.
    Mary married Herbert F. Kitson on November 20, 1954; he passed away on May 15, 1977.
    She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Paradise Rebekah Lodge 83 in Bluffton, Adams County Heart Club, Adams County Senior Citizens, and she volunteered at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Mary worked as an L.P.N. at Adams County Memorial Hospital for 26 years and retired in 1999.
    She is survived by two sons, Gregory F. (Teresa) Kitson and Scott A. Kitson, both of Decatur; a brother, Herbert R. Stratton of Portland; a sister, Ruth A. Arnold of Portland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a brother.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services .
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 1, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
    Burial will take place in the Decatur Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or to the Dialysis Center at Lutheran Hospital.
